The Club was formed in 1818 and eventually included twenty-four members. All but one of the members graduated from Harvard College between 1810 and 1817 and held prominent positions within Boston society. Meetings were held in the homes of individual members. William Howard Gardiner received his A.B. from Harvard in 1816 and studied at Harvard Law School. From the description of Themes and other college manuscripts, ca. 1808-1816. (Harvard University).
